The Challenge

Global Logistics Corp faced critical blind spots in monitoring their remote refrigerated transport containers. Off-the-shell GPS and temperature trackers were unable to interface with their proprietary cooling units or survive the extreme temperature fluctuations of global shipping routes. They urgently needed a custom embedded hardware solution capable of reading proprietary protocols, running edge analytics to detect anomalies locally, and transmitting data reliably over cellular networks.

Our Solution

Chirp Tech designed a custom embedded IoT gateway from the ground up. We selected an industrial-grade ARM Cortex-M microcontroller, developed custom PCB schematics, and wrote highly optimized C/C++ firmware running on FreeRTOS. The system interfaces directly with cooling units via CAN bus, aggregates data locally, and pushes critical alerts to AWS IoT Core over LTE-M cellular connection.

• Edge Processing & Cloud Sync:Local data aggregation, filtering, and compressiong before securely transmitting critical telemetry via MQTT to AWS Iot Core over cellular networks.

The Results

The MicroEdge gateway successfully modernized a fleet of over 5,000 refrigerated containers. The custom embedded system provided unprecedented real-time visibility into the cloud chain, drastically reducing spoilage incidents and ensuring strict regulatory compliance across all global shipping routes.
